,
Bichon Frise:
Very very friendly.   Loves
kids and most love the
water.  One of the best
breeds for kids.   Smart
and easy to train.
Hypoallergenic and non
shedding. Curly coated
and white, although
oftentimes comes in
various shades of white.
7-18 lbs.
Buttercup:
Known for it's very sweet temperament.  This is a
very docile yet playful breed.  They are excellent
with children and tolerate much.  Smart little
dogs.  They have a long, silky coat and come in an
assortment of colors. Hypoallergenic and non
shedding. They come in a wide variety of colors.
3-12 lbs.
Maltese:
Has a very outgoing and
friendly personality.  They
are called "people
pleasers", and that really
sums up this little dogs
personality. Sweet little
lap dogs.  Highly
intelligent. Hypoallergenic
and non shedding.  Long,
white, silky coats.  3-7 lbs.
Shih Tzu:
A very lively, sweet little
companion.  They can be a
little strong willed, but with
the right attention they make
a wonderful pet.
Hypoallergenic and non
shedding.  They have a long
silky coat and come in a
variety of colors.  9-18 lbs.
Yorkie:
Makes a good little watch dog as it is defensive of it's
territory.  Can be very loyal.  Is a smart breed but a
little hard to housebreak because of it's stubborn
nature.  Hypoallergenic and non shedding.  Has a long,
silky coat and comes in brown with some black.  3-7 lbs.

Many people call me looking for a Yorkie and I always
cringe.  Looks are not a good way to decide on a breed.
They are cute, although many of them have a wiry coat,
which I do not like.  I hardly ever talk to a person who
has had a Yorkie that cares to get another.  Almost
every single person I talk to that has had one says
they are hard to housebreak and are yippy.
Poodle:
This breed is in the top ten for most intelligent dogs.  They are not only easy to train, but
they are fun to teach tricks to.  They are excellent with kids.  Hypoallergenic and non
shedding.  They have a curly coat and come in many colors including mixed colors.  6-20 lbs.
not counting the Standard Poodle.
English Munchkins:
This is a docile, laid
back little dog that is
very affectionate. They
are very loyal and eager
to please. They are
smart and are easy to
train.  They are
excellent with children
and very friendly .  They
are non shedding.
3-5 lbs.

Read my opinion about what is
happening with the Maltese
breed, below!
There are many Maltese out there that are not very pretty.  They look nothing like what
a Maltese is supposed to look like and what's even worse, is most people don't even
know what they are supposed to look like anymore!

Years ago I called a Maltese breeder and asked how much the parents weighed, and
this woman got very snippy and said, "they are long and tall like they are supposed to
be!"  What!  I told her I had been breeding for many years and they weren't supposed
to be long and tall.  At this point she asked for my name and phone number.  It was
actually pretty funny.  I declined to give it to her.  I imagine there are many more
breeders out there with "long and tall" Maltese!  I know I've seen many pictures of
Maltese that look like this.  These were AKC puppies.

Maltese are not supposed to have a curl in their coat either.  This is from a Bichon or
Poodle being mixed in.

One time I called a Maltese breeder and asked him if the dew claws were done on the
puppies.  He said "ma'am, these are dogs, not cats!"  In case you don't know, dew claws
are the "extra" claw they have on their paw.  I used to get them removed but finally
figured out it was inhumane.  You have to take the puppies to the vet when they are 2
days old, no older, and they just pull out their nail (it doesn't hurt you know), okay.
The reason this is done is because people forget to clip them and they can grow in a
circle and grow right through their paw.  This man was pretty clueless and knew nothing
about dogs!  These were AKC puppies.

I can't even begin to count how many people tell me their Maltese weighs 17-20 pounds.
No kidding. There's no way that dog can be that much overweight!  It is not a pure
breed.  Quite obviously these dogs have Bichon or Poodle in them or something with a
little weight to it!  These are AKC puppies.

Then there's the Maltese with so much tear staining, it has a rust colored face.  Ugly!  I
cannot stand to see a dog like this.  This is not the norm, but people accept it.  Read
what I have to say about
tear staining.

I've looked at other Maltese websites and you figure they're putting their best
pictures of their parents on their website.  The wording under the picture acts like it is
the most beautiful Maltese, when in reality it is shocking because they either have a
very long nose, long legs, a curly coat, or all three!  They put the dog on a black velvet
background so it looks nice and white, but it's got this long nose and legs.  I really think
these breeders are clueless as to what a "real" Maltese is supposed to look like!  (It
also looks like it is "floating" when they put the Maltese on the black background!)

I can't tell you how many times I have heard a horror story about a puppy that was
registered with AKC.  Their AKC registrationt meant nothing to them when the puppy
died.  I do not mean that every breeder is bad who uses AKC, but usually it is just a
piece of paper.  AKC or CKC are necessary if you want to show your dog.  Other wise it
is just a piece of paper.

I no longer use AKC for my Maltese.  The parents are still registered with AKC, but at
last inspection, they claimed I had to keep track of even my mixes for the lifetime of
the dog.  Excuse me!  I think that has nothing to do with my pure breeds and is none of
their business. My adults all passed their DNA testing too.  AKC is quite expensive and
there are many other registries to choose from.  So I chose another.

I also think if AKC was really all they claim to be, they would not register puppies that
come from puppy mills.  They let them slip through the cracks because it is really about
money.  AKC is not all they pretend to be.
Below you can read my opinion of a good
Maltese breeder as opposed to a poor
Maltese breeder!  You can also read my
opinion about AKC.

Something to remember when deciding on a breed.
The size a dog will be always depend on how much
the parents weigh.  So if the weight range is broad
it is because the mama and dad have a wide weight
range between them.
